The Facts

  • Moved into Venture Centre (main site) January 2012
  • Originally moved into Blythe Valley Innovation Centre (BVIC) June 2012 Unit 14 334 sq. ft. 2 staff
  • Remained at BVIC until October 2015.
  • Outgrew BVIC and took premises at our Wellesbourne facility which is part of the UWSP in order to accommodate a workshop and a growing workforce. Now employ 7 people.

Lyra Electronics started their business with the University of Warwick Science Park “Ignite” scheme in an incubation office at the Venture Centre in January 2012. They quickly outgrew this, resulting in a re-location to the Blythe Valley Innovation Centre in June 2012 with the original two staff planning to recruit two more.

The company designs and manufactures electronics for the green power industries, particularly Electric and Hybrid Vehicles and we were able to accommodate them with a unit of 334 sq.ft., allowing them to set up a test environment as well as office space.

With many years’ experience in the development of electronics hardware and software at the cutting edge of the Automotive and Aerospace industries, the company successfully grew and expanded their workforce requiring them to look for a facility offering a large workshop and offices.  We were fortunate enough to be able to help them out once again with their relocation requirement, by offering a larger facility at our Wellesbourne site in October 2015.

Lyra’s comments

“We found being based at Blythe Valley Innovation Centre helpful to the development of our business because of the many facilities that are under the one roof. As a very small business, things such as a professionally-manned reception, post services, bookable meeting rooms with coffee facilities etc., all give a professional appearance that would be daunting if we were to try and set this up elsewhere.”

“We would recommend BVIC as a good location for start-up businesses and growing SMEs because it brings together an impressive building in a smart location, friendly help and support, and a professional image that would otherwise be beyond the reach of a start-up. The transport links are excellent, and the setting itself is very green, with nature walks around the site.”
